Shoeless Jane

CIS XC Championships 2004: Coolis runs shoeless

"At the CIS championship meet in Guelph (Nov. 13), McGill had to settle for a disappointing 14th place finish out of 17 teams. The race started off on the wrong foot, literally, for McGill as Jane Cullis, lost a shoe at the start and decided to continue without stopping. The gutsy, 5-foot-9 biochemistry junior from Vancouver was the top Martlet runner on the day, finishing 49th overall in 19 minutes flat. Other McGill scorers included Wilson (67th), White (95th), Vuksic (96th) and Prosk (99th). "

Track's Jane Cullis and hockey's Mathieu Poitras named as McGill-Peel Pub Athletes of the Week

"Jane Cullis of Vancouver and Mathieu Poitras of Gatineau, Que., are the McGill-Peel Pub athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 16, 2005. Cullis, a 20-year-old bio-chemistry junior on the track and field team, won gold in the 3000-metre race at the Sherbrooke invitational meet on Saturday. She finished first with a personal best time of 10-minutes, 36.46 seconds, winning the event by an impressive 11.23 seconds. Cullis earned the nickname "Shoeless Jane" at the CIS cross-country championships last fall after losing one of her sneakers at the start of a 5k race yet continued and ran the entire race with only one shoe."
